BLOG - best SEO as subdomain or independent url???

    Hi everybody
    I am about to start a photoblog that should be related to my website; from a SEO point of view I was asking myself what could be the best url: a subdomain as blog.mydomain.com or an independent url as mydomainblog.com?

    well a subdomain and another entirely differ domain are considered the same to Google. Except that you will just be paying fo r that second domain. So throw that one out.

    Really you should have you blog as part of your main domain mydomain.com/blog would be the best senario....otherwise pick the subdomain

    For me, I would choose the URL likes domain.com/blog, because it's benefit for PR of domain.com.

    It is better to have separate domain for your blog, which gives more attraction for you blog than subdomain.

    going for a domain is always better than a subdomain...but its not that a subdomain cannot do well...
    Still i will suggest you to go for a domain...

    joelchrist , saibee: you mean something like mydomainblog.com or blogmydomain.com? I guess it should be good to have a recall of the website in the blog url, or not? Keep in mind that my purpose in doing the blog is pulling attention (and SEO) toward my website.

    Keeping it as a subdomain will be good from seo point of view. Because you can get more density if you can mention one keyword twice in the url...like
    myphotodomain.com/photoshot

    You seem preferring the subdomain option but your sample
    myphotodomain.com/photoshot
    shows a category not a subdomain, right?

    As you said the blog is related to your main site, so go with sub-domain.

    In your situation, you should do your website.com/blog

    This will have the best SEO benefit and support for your domain as a whole as you will continually be adding fresh content to your site rather than a sub or new domain.
