If I schedule a post ahead of time (say 1-2 weeks) will search engines notice this? I know it won't get posted to my blog until then, but right when I schedule I can type in the URL and the post will show up. Does that mean it can get indexed early?
I'm probably stating the obvious but search engines won't notice or index your post unless it is posted on your site... it's not like they can see the unpublished post as it is not yet linked to from any part of your live WordPress site, even if you can access the post link.
Depends, Wordpress won't set up any links to the page until it's set to go live, but depending on the sitemap plugin you use, it might add it to your sitemap, so yeah it could be indexed before it's released.
The scheduled post or the draft post you can view it with this parameter at the end of URL "&preview=true" This is parameter that search engine will ignore. The answer is no, they will not get index.
Thanks for the replies everyone! I was referring to the actual URL that was showing up, not the "&preview=true". Today I viewed it in another browser and it didn't show, probably because I wasn't logged in. It also didn't show up in the sitemap so like you guys said it definitely won't get indexed. Thanks.
"All in 1 SEO pack" is probably the most popular plugin. There have been numerous threads about this in the "Wordpress" section of this site.
Google will not recognize such posts as they are not live on your website. If you want to get indexed, you should post your content up regularly. This will get the google bots to constantly crawl your url and website.
