Haleii is accurate and if you have one it wont effect the serps other than its currently good to have .com, .net, .org. Tld's are created equal.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

The top-level domain is the very last section of an Internet domain name, located after the last dot. like .com, .org

TLD is simply Top level Domain. It is no longer preferred by google for seo or SERP ranking.

A Top Level Domain (TLD) is one of the domains at the highest level in the hierarchical Domain Name System of the Internet.[1] The top-level domain names are installed in the root zone of the name space. For all domains in lower levels, it is the last part of the domain name, that is, the last label of a fully qualified domain name.

As mentioned by the above members TLD is generally the suffix attached to the domain names. This can be business specific or country specific. It hardly doesn't have any effect in SEO..
