Now, it doesn’t matter if you like the term “link baiting” or not. It’s the process that one goes through to attract traffic that matters, not whether you prefer to think of your content as bait for links. I like to think that creating content that increases web traffic and builds links simply falls under the general social media optimization marketing buzz phrase that is gaining in popularity.

Write some more and you’ll get more links and more trust and that's the secret.

yup,,, in posting your article must have good content to have traffic, if your post seems to be nonsense its useless, nobody will read your post,, nobody will go to your site other people won't refer you as well,, but if you have a good interesting content, people will talk about it,

While content is indeed king if you want to increase traffic to your site, there are others ways to go about this. Link building is one of them and others include social networking, social bookmarking, blogging, forum posting and blog commenting. If you include all these in your marketing campaign, then you will be able to increase your traffic and maintain it well.

 

You should also target niche keywords while also writing about something you know about so you can create good content. Niche Keywords are keywords which are not too difficult to rank for but have a decent amount of traffic. You can use google adwords to help you choose keywords. You could also check the top 3 or 4 sites that appear at the top of the search engine for your keywords. If these have a low pagerank then you should be able to compete with them .

 

yup,, link building do have an effect to the traffic,,, like blog commenting and posting, of course with the correct keyword... ^_^

 

I have found that posting unique content regularly, and building back links, will get you the rankings you need to get traffic. Keep each of your posts closely related to the main topic of the site, and use a keyword in each post, that has enough people searching for it, and not excessive competition.

If you post a new 500 word article at least one a week, and build a dozen good back links a week, you will see your site continue to move up in the rankings.

I think those tips are more applicable to sites. Niche sites. For blogging, here are my tips.
1. Leave comment with your URL on most recent blog posts.
2. Leave short messages with link on shoutbox or chatbox.
3. Digg your latest post.
4. Post it on Facebook, Twitter and other social bookmarking sites.
5. Produce quality content. Content is the king.
6. Surprise the readers and visitors each time. Contests can do miracle.

 

agree - internal site optimization is the starting point - selecting 5-10 important keywords and optimizing 5-10 internal pages to rank for those...
