5 steps to becoming successful in social media

Most businesses have a Twitter and Facebook profile to interact with their audiences and get as much promotion as possible. Those who do not are missing out on free (near enough) exposure to new customers and website visitors.
This post will give you 5 important tips to becoming successful in social media.

1. Be active & Contribute
You are not going to get much attention if you just post boring news updates or statuses that get overlooked. Instead ask questions and kick off discussions between fans and followers, give them something to respond and react to.

Think about your goals and what you aim to get out of social media; do you want to gain more exposure, increase sales, enhance brand loyalty or even provide customer support. Define and plan what the goals are before you get going. Explain what retweeting is to your followers and encourage them to do so with your tweets. Remember to use hash# tags in your tweets to reach as many users as possible.

2. Don’t waste time
Don’t waste your time goofing about on social media websites not being very productive. You may find yourself reading interesting tweets or messages all day without actually contributing very much at all. This wastes time and happens to everyone, so make sure you snap out of it and start contributing or no one will find you!
