review my dynamic music website please?

hey guys, the last few weeks i have been working on a music website for my first dynamic website. It would be great if you could look at it and give suggestions, like how it looks, coding errors, and most of all, if you have any ideas for features i could add. I tried to implement as many of the cool ideas i could, but there's always room for improvement. thanks a lot!

I think it is a great concept however I think you could look and the design and make it more attractive at the moment it just seems a bit basic. Also if you are wanting target all music genre's on the homepage mix it up with a bit of rnb, soul etc .

As people have said, the look of the site leaves a lot to be desired. It's basically a mess. An equally pressing problem is that you seem to have spam links taking up the "recently added" section, which suggests people can add links to whatever they want without admin approval? I'd definitely change that, make all new submissions go through you to avoid spammage.

Oh yes, and you need page titles. It's just weird without them!

i think i am going to do a php validation before adding songs to my database (not allowing links) to prevent spam, instead of directly approving each song. and you are right about titles, i will definitely add that after i finish working on my site. A lot of people seem to have said that the website design is bad. I am not really a website designer, so if anyone could give me specific suggestions/etc. that would be great!

 

You should get an proper web 2.0 design and also add the <title></title> tags in the header .

 

This honestly isn't meant to be nasty but I suspect the reason nobody has given specifics about your design is because the entire thing is basically bad.

The logo is blurry, the vote up buttons have been shrunk so they're blurry too. The menu bar looks like something from a 1990s Geocities site and the song info looks as if it's been pretty much left unstyled.

This all probably sounds harsh but I just woke up, it's all true, and it's also not your fault since you said yourself you're not a designer

I'd find someone who knows what they're doing, if you're serious about making the site a success.

 

Hmm not bad but i would sugest using deeper colours and a more professional lay out try and yake ideas from the more professional sites

Kiramanic please don't feel like you are being nasty. Constructive criticism is the best and really helps me out. That said, how would you suggest I go about finding a designer? I am only 15 so that means no budget for hiring a professional.

 

Im going to be honest, the design is not great. Logo is rubbish. The whole look of the site is poor. The designing of a site will decide whether it makes someone view the site longer.

- Look n Feel ... try some thing like Grey (10% black) and Black combination .. makes sure you use the proper font like helvitica , arial ... and distinguish title from the content ..

if you do all these stuff you'll get a clean look n feel for your website
