I was looking through the members profiles on this forum and there is a "reputation" box...What is that?

It means you have it disabled for your account (under the user control panel).

Okay, so "green" means reputation is enabled, but what the hell does "reputation" mean? And why is everyone so secretive about it....

It's kind of like PageRank... users vote for other user's reputation (by clicking on the scale), and it's weighted by how "important" they are within the forum. It works like this right now:
    • Everyone starts with a reputation of 10
    • You can alter other people's reputation by 1 point by default
    • For every 365 days after you register, your altering power increases by 1
    • For every 1,000 posts, your altering power also increases by 1
    • For every 100 reputation points that other's give you, your altering power increased by 1
    • User must have at least 50 posts before they can affect other's reputation
    • You must have a reputation of 10 or higher to be able to affect others (it's 10 by default)
    • You can alter up to 10 user's reputations per day
    • You must alter different user's reputations before you can alter the same user's again

    That clear it up? :)

Yeah... but they upper division classes, so they have lots of prerequisites. So not really worth going. Although I hear the job market for graduates with a masters in Reputation is pretty good.

If you have a GED, I think they give you the Reputation degree by default.

You can click on the [IMG] icon next to someone's post (if you click on it yourself, you see your reputation, but you can't vote for yourself). :)

I found it. You click on the scales of justice in the blue bar just above the green reputation box.

Too bad you need 50 posts before you can affect other user's reputation. :)
