Interesting read. I had a play around with hubpages a while ago but failed to do any further work due to other commitments. This thread might just inspire me to give it another go.

I have an ezine article account with over 100k views, and the clicks I have gotten are less than 3k. IMO if you have a website with ANY semblance of authority you are better off putting the original content on it, as you don't have to rely on them 1) clicking on your hubpage/landing page 2) dodging the adsense blocks and clicking through to your real site 3) not being completely turned off by the time they reach your website. It's a long funnel process where they can be lost at multiple levels. Interesting experiment but when 80% of your views are not coming to your money website it shines the truth on hubpages.

I actually make A LOT more money via Amazon Associates on Hub Pages than I do from Adsense.

This looks interesting. I have a few hubs, but haven't really done much with them. I shall watch this thread with interest.

It good that you have the time to do this, do Hubpages take down your pages sometimes?

Techsole you mentioned AMR and Bestspinner, I've been considering AMR for a while - doesn't it have a built in spinner, is it any good?

I've never used the built in spinner with AMR so wouldn't be able to say. I normally format my articles in TBS and then add them in spyntax format in AMR.

If the hub is too small or has too many outbound links they will tell you that it is not of high enough quality. But you have a chance to edit it before they delete it.

Good luck with this project. Is it $5/day, $5/wk or $5/month?

Hubpages is a waste of time for making money with Adsense. My Hubs bring a total of circa 500 visits per day so 130,000 per year. However the average ctr is 0.44% and the average income per 1,000 is way below £1. Other less know sites in this sector do much better.

Also Hub never seem to register referrals and getting in touch with complaints is impossible.

You are right. I'm SEO for three years and applied different tactics on link building and I see hubpages with article marketing is a good way to get in on the first spot.

I read your software checklist to buy and they are good. Scrapebox and Article Marketing Robot are good soft, I tried it myself.

Keep us updated on your ranking using this method.

I've read that some people do make hundreds of dollars a month from Hubpages or Squidoo, but unfortunately I don't. :)

I do create both Hubpages and Squidoo as part of my backlinking to my main site and if I happen to make any money from them, it's a plus.

I've found your experiment very interesting and I wish you the best of luck in reaching your goal. I'll bookmarked the thread and will continue to follow.

I think Squidoo is a better alternative to hubpages at this point. Squidoo tightened up their policies a while back, and it is still the loosest of all the Web 2.0 properties as far as what you can do. Hubpages just dumped affiliate links (although I think you can still use a domain redirect) and didn't grandfather anything. I do very well on Squidoo selling Amazon products, and make next to nothing from Hubpages - even with their new ad program and Adsense combined. I almost always see Squidoo lenses ahead of Hubpages in ranking for similar keywords as well.

Personally, it's a good replacement for eHow, but not much more.
