How does having a high PR help?

My site (programmingseo.com) has a PR of 3, but gets around on average 30 views a day. I know that PR is just an indicator of how well you can place in SERPs, but how can I use this PR to my advantage?

PR increment is depend Google caching but also this is true that google take the high caching to the high PR site.
but you can increase the crawler rate from google webmaster tool.

It can help somehow. Because PR is included in 200 signals in ranking a website.

You are right PR don't indicate how many visitors you will get, this one is just a algorithm google use to rank your blog/site to their search database. To increase the visitors of your website use high volume search keyword & create quality backlinks.

PR and SERP are two different subjects. Having a good, high PR doesn't ensure that you will have higher SERP for a targeted keyword. For that you will have to build backlinks with using targeted keyword as the anchor text.

PR plays a very small roll in the full equation. You should focus on setting up high quality content on your site targeting low competition keywords if you want to start getting more visitors.

One advantage of having high PR is that Google will crawl your site more often. This is due to the number of inbound or incoming links you have. The more links to your site (page), the more chances Googlebot will crawl and index (or reindex) your site. And thus, this will indirectly improve your SERPs because the more content Google indexes, the more keywords you can rank for. If you are a webmaster owning other sites, you can make use of your high PR site to push both PR and Search Engine crawlers to your other sites. If you have a new site, linking your high PR site to your new site can increase the speed and likelihood of your new site being crawled and indexed.

you must consider if your website topic is being searched often on the internet or not. Low searches might be the reason for low traffic...

Besides using blog comments and social bookmark sites to get backlinks you may also create fake profiles on social network sites. Why would it increase your page rank and your serps?

It doesn't that's a myth and many fools chase it

Higher PR doesn't mean higher traffic or rankings ....

    I had a suite with PR0 having 5k/day traffic
And another one PR 2 outranking PR7 and 6 sites

    But people never learn ...
