    commenting intelligently takes a lot of time but it's really a good method to improve your serp positions. But as for every other methods in seo, the best advice I could give you is to mix all the different methods : on-page work, directory submissions, social medias, blog commenting etc.

    Using a keyword as your name (for anchor text) only works on spammy type blogs where no real person is checking the comments. Most real blog owners see a keyword in the name and automatically assume your comment is spam and block it. If you're going to do real blog comments you shouldn't use keywords as your name, it's a red flag.

    People sometimes get overly concerned with having every single link back to their site be keyword targeted. This isn't really necessary. It's OK to have some links that don't have the "right" anchor texts. In fact I think it makes your linking look more "natural" and may have a positive effect.

    I've found it only helps on larger blogs and topics, plus it's harder work for you. But if you give a controversial opinion and someone replies to your comment, it can get you more traffic.

    blog commenting is good technique to get traffic from different resource and backlinks as well. but you should try to comment on relevant theme based blogs that is makes good reputation in search engine's think of view.

    Even though we comment on those pages, it will not be a good backlink, if it's not having good PR. Is it good habit to comment on the home page or subpages?

    I think you won't find any blogs with high PR that let you comment on their home page... ;)
    But don't worry about that, a link is a link and a link is always better than no link!
