Since Google keyword suggestion tool is a free tool to find our which are the most competitive keywords. You can also go for paid tools only if you can buy them. On the contrary, Google Adwords is the best one.

SEM Rush is quite good. It is integrated into Raven SEO tools or you can use it directly from http://www.semrush.com/. I use Raven Tool and Google's Adwords tool together to analyze keywords and domains.

No doubt Google keyword tool is helpful for easy searching and drive traffic towards your website but you must select manually some pointed keywords from your article or post. The best suggestion is that about five keywords to be used under every 100 words in a post.

I like to use Google Trends or Yahoo Buzz. If your looking at things like celebrities/gossip and things like that - look into TMZ.

We should not only rely on key word tools, we should also thought the key words by our mind according to our article subject and theme, which may hit easily by search engine and our site ranked up.

    1. FREE Google Adwords Keyword Tools
    2. FREE Google Wonder wheel

I agree that the Wonder Wheel (available through a click on the left sidebar after any google search) is a helpful, visual way to locate related keywords. You still have to verify their competitiveness, etc with the adwords tool.
