Dear Friends I want to know that what is the authenticity of Alexa Traffic Rank....Because sometime I watch that traffic ranking goes down but site is performing well on google. So I m unable to understand the relevancy of both, pease guide me. Regards Sanjay
Alexa ranking is just a matter of their users toolbar behaviour. So, if most of your users dont use their toolbar your site would rank lower than a website with lower traffic but high toolbar user. I wouldn;t pay too much attention to alexa
A lot of people depend on Alexa ranking to see how their site is doing. However, it is my opinion that if you really want your site to fare well, then optimise with your target market and Google in mind. Based on our experience, we were able to get to top 1 and 2 on the search results of Yahoo and Bing, respectively, when we started landing on the top 10 of Google's page one. That is even if we just have an Alexa Ranking of 888,240. What we did to market our site was article marketing, blogging, social networking, social bookmarking, blog commenting and forum posting.
Alexa is a waste of time. The only fun part about is seeing your website ranked against others on a global scale. It is definitely not accurate.
For good alexa rank, you need to get more new visitors, For this try to promote your site and get more quality backlinks.
In my own view, Alexa could be either trustworthy or not. Well it depends. There are instances that Alexa, in terms of revenue/ conversion could be really reliable. But in doing link building, Alexa is not much of concern. This is because most of the time, visitors of one site are only visiting those site to submit their pages and do link building stuff. That is when Alexa becomes untrustworthy.
By performing well on Google do you mean your analytics or something else? Alexa measures Traffic mostly by using a toolbar installed on users pc's. It can also be manipulated to show more traffic than the site is actually getting.
I wouldn't take too much notice of Alexa, however it is a good way to judge your position against competitors. That's a top tip for anyone with a new website.
