Dmoz, will I ever get in?

I've submitted my website twice now, spread out over nearly 7 months and have not gotten into this directory. Assuming I correctly submitted my site to the right category, with an appropriate title/description, how long could it take to get accepted? I studied every other submission in the same category and reflected their style in my own submission.

Would it be possible to find someone that can guarantee acceptance? I'm sure nobody here can give me a clear cut answer on accomplishing this myself, however, there have to be people out there with this capability.

Assuming you submitted to the right category?
This thread is in the Directories forum... one step above the subforum labeled "ODP / DMOZ". :)
[I wouldnt bother asking there either, just read the sticky, cause it's a serious trollfest in there.]

Submitting twice in 7 months when the documentation says to submit once doesnt help, and offering to pay for acceptance actually could get your site blacklisted there. On the bright side you might choose to remove the offer of payment from the post. Your call.

See Dmoz 101: Background on the Open Directory Project
The sticky in DPs dmoz section has more detail, but I'd suggest that since you've done the submission, just move on to marketing your site in ways you can control. Dmoz acceptance isn't a sure thing, timing is iffy, and for the reasons described in the referenced thread, that probably isnt going to change. Good luck with your other marketing efforts.

Go buy another domain that has the link and point your site to that.

What I don't understand is that google uses dmoz for it's directory, but doesn't demand that dmoz keep their directory up to date. I've submitted a couple sites that should easily qualify for placement in the category I'd submitted them for, and they're still not there. It's very frustrating.

Professional design and logical navigation is as important as contents to get into DMOZ. DMOZ was basically started to collect good informative sites not for giving backlinks and promoting sites. From this point of view Contents are the most important. But good design and navigation put a positive impression on the editor that leads him to approve the site.

Are professional design and good navigation not part of a good site? DMOZ will accept you if you have a good site.
Competition is increasing day by day it also appy to DMOZ. Survival of the fittest.

My apologies. My opinion was probably tainted by what I was told while editing there off and on since '99.

It is almost impossible to get listed on DMOZ these days. They have a queue of millions of sites and not enough volunteers.

Have no chance to be listed....

all of em are the laziest guys ever....

I follow all the instruction and requirements but my sites have never been listed (up to now is 3 years.....). I don't want to submit my sites again anymore.

Can't see any positive point, don't waste your time with the crazy directory

A link from DMOZ is treated just like a normal link. There is no special honor from search engines. There are thousands of sites (including mine) that perform very well in search results without being listed in DMOZ.

DMOZ is a very specific directory and will your website get into depends on not only correctness of your description but also on the opinion/wishes of the moderator of appropriate category. You can submit and wait - no more.

It may take ages to get your site to approve on DMOZ, and also with no guarantee. If somehow your site gets listed in DMOZ it will have very little benefit on your SEO or the visitors you will get from there compared to the effort and the worries you get it for being listed there.

The site in your profile is not even listable, so give up waiting.
I see no reason why they would want to list the site in your signature. How is that being lazy? Are they lazy as your site does not meet the criteria for a listing? Read the bit on 'unique content'. A zillion other sites offer the same as yours, so they would they want to list it.

Why is it that most DMOZ whingers have sites that are not even listable? Anyone notice that pattern?
