I'm ranked #2 in 150 million results :/...

Hi,

My website ( 3 months old domain ) is ranked #2 in google in 150.000.000 results...

How is this possible :S ?

( The keyword has 0 searches per month... )

It barely brings me traffic... But how can I be ranked so high :S ???

It is almost impossible for anyone to give you any possible explanation without any information on the keywords you are ranking for.

How many competing pages are there when you serach for your keyword in quotes? I would guess a there are a lot less.

There's no such thing as 150,000,000 results lol. Let me know what's on page 567,367 yeah?!

 

If you search something in google, underneath your search it says " XXX results ".

When I search for my website is says: 150.000.000 >.< ??? :/

 

Yeah that'll be aprox how many pages on the internet with that keyword in it. If you notice that Google will only ever display the 1,000 or less of the most relevant results to the keyword. You're not even competing with 99.9% of the total search results.

 

I get what seqqa is saying, try clicking on page 20 or so and then click back to page 1 sometimes the numbers will dramatically lower. Also have you tried the keyword in quotes yet? Until you do this you won't know how many pages have the keyword exactly how you have it.

E.g. I could search for pink shoe hat, and there could be 150,000,000 results returned by big G. But what is likely is that the words are in fact present on many of the pages but are spread out all over the page.

For example. I went out today dressed all in PINK. But you'll never guess what happened I forgot my HAT. I run back home to get it and my SHOE fell off.

Then there could be my site the only one on the internet that has the exact words in this order, I have a PINK SHOE HAT. Putting it in quotes will return my page only.

Plus whats the point in having such a ranking if there are no searches? I hope you haven't purchased a domain for this project.

 

This is the correct answer.

As long as your website has been around a bit and google likes your website it's incredibly easy to get top 3 rankings on any number of google searches. The problem is that it is a false win since although you have top ranking, nobody is searching for those keywords/phrases.

 

Anybody can rank for keywords that are uncompetative.

 

if it's an uncompetitive keyword, you should be ranked 1 not 2 or greater

Another reason why you see so many results is because google is showing you a
broad match of results for each word in your search.

Example... marketing forum

They will show you the combined number in their data base of total sites or and
pages targeting/using the word marketing and the total of sites/pages targeting
the word forum.

That's every forum you can think of and many you never thought of.

World of War Craft - diet - jobs - cell phones and so on all who have a forum
and include 1 of the words in your search. Which in the example was marketing
forum.

So in reality when google show x amount results in these .0seconds it's not an
exact total match of results targeting your actual search.

Hope that helps you understand the part of why so many results are reported for
your search.

You will be getting a good ranking if you are just searching for your own domain keyword. Try to target keywords that has competition as that is where the money is.

 

Probably u have checked keyword with Google tool, 0 searchs dosnt mean keyword word is not bieng searches in google it means google do not have enough adword advertisers(that means you can get even 0.1$ per click nd they dont want that), so usually google tool show 0 searches per month for such type of keywords..This is wt i learned from my experience i might b wrong...
