Everything Should Be Faster

Everything (forums, keyword tracker, etc.) should be noticeably faster starting now. Just added more raw bandwidth to the circuit the servers are on. I'm hoping that was also the problem with the Google API and problems with the keyword tracker, so we'll see...

Yes it is, at least when I checked them a minute ago, 40 keywords in a split second...

It's probably not going to affect the speed of the Google queries (the API in general is slow), but hopefully it will fix the issue of the Check All threads stopping on their own. I'm not 100% sure it will at this point, so I'm watching it.

Thanks. Before today when trying to type a message in to the post/reply box, the text was slower at showing up than my typing. Now it looks like it's not slow here.

Could be that I need to clear my temp. internet files and clean memory, let me try that and I will report back.

Could be Bell South dial up servers also.

This means that the CPU on *your* machine is pinned at 100% doing something else. Check your process list to see the offending application. It may also mean that you have a virus (not implying that you have, but that's a possibility - some viruses will use your CPU quite intensively).

Here's a couple of things you could check (sometimes tweaking your machine's configuration may increase your connection speed).

First, check your actual speed (this tool requires Java enabled):

    http://speedcheck2.optonline.net/speedcheck/speedcheck.html

If it's about 5 KB/s (that's kilobytes, not bits), then it's probably as fast as you can get it for a dial-up. If it's less, check out this website:

    http://www.speedguide.net

Scroll down and on the left-hand side click on TCP Analyzer. Once you get the response, scroll down to the section that looks like this:

    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2613.6 kbps (326.7 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1045.44 kbps (130.68 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

This tells you your maximum speed that your machine is configured to handle. It means that for sites that take 200 ms to respond, the maximum speed is 326.7 KB/s. If your numbers say anything greater than 16 KB/s, then I'm afraid you are at the maximum speed and there's not much you can do (besides going cable/DSL route).
