Hiya, i recived a post infraction, mainly because i searched the forums quite alot and then posted on old post's even though it was a relevant topic.. Hmmm Not sure what a post infraction acutally is.. Thanks
Check this out...this will make things clearer http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=dp_faq#faq_infractions
Since I'm new here and I like to look at older posts, I'd also like to know if that's a problem - to respond to "old" posts. - and how old is "old"? I can't help it if I read something "old" that I'd like to learn more about - forums are great repositories of info and "old" threads can be helpful to "new" people. Please clarify so I don't get into a problem from the start
Peter, your infraction was for the post: "heyyy welcome man". Short posts that basically add little to a thread come under the heading of Running up post count/post has no value. Some of the commons posts that come under the above mentioned category are: Welcome to DP. Submitted one, thanks. Sent you a PM etc. Writergrrrl, if you read as well as write you should not have any trouble dealing with old posts. Some type of problems found in responses to old posts include: Users responding to posts made by a banned user (user name shown in red) who obviously can't respond. Users failing to read date of post say on sales thread or link exchange thread. Users failing to read entire thread and make humorous responses in light to what has been posted previously. Say in a sales thread, seller will have said site sold and then someone pops up later and asks, "Is this site still for sale?" For the most point avoiding infractions is just a matter of using common sense and knowing what the posting guidelines say.
