I think that several PR2-3 backlinks will give you PR1. Try to build them on relevant websites, that have some trust in your niche. Also you can build 10-20 PR n/a backlinks on relevant websites and may be get PR1 too. It is easy to get PR1. Much easier than getting PR3 when you have PR2 or PR4 when you have PR3.
You are most certainly correct. This is a "serious friendly business community place". Don't you think if you had 6,537,428 back links you would be doing good? Look. People need to learn how to read, learn, try things. The question asked was ridiculous. The post should have been deleted in the first place. People need to make an effort on their own. Do that and everyone here will bend over backwards to help. If the author of the post would take the time to read the posts in this forum, they would have never asked such a stupid question. And yes, there are stupid questions. I am not one of those people that say "There aren't any stupid questions". A stupid question is a stupid question regardless of what you know or who your are. In this forum, and other IM forums, too many folks come here and say, "Here I am. I want to know how much money you make, what your keywords are, and I want you to do everything for me. Those type of people can actually ruin a good forum. Take a look around here. People need to make an effort of learning on their own. Had the poster taken 5 minutes to read other posts, that question would never have been asked. By the way, I just pulled that figure off the top of my head without thinking about it. Based on what I have seen for the last month or so, I may need to increase that number)
You don't actually need millions of backlinks. You only need to create quality backlinks, because a quality backlink is equivalent to a thousand backlinks
Dofollow backlinks, links from site having sufficient Google cached backlinks, backlinks from home pages etc. are quality backlinks.
There is no magical number you need to reach. You can check your competitors links and try to "align" with them - by getting all the links they have. Try to get links they don't have.
