If anybody has experience with advertising on Facebook, I'd like very much to hear about it. How much do they charge, how to setup ads, targeting etc.

    Appreciate your help.

I am pretty sure they charge the same way google does with the bidding system.
I guess it would depend on what you want to advertise.

Yes it is cheap but visitors are not quality as visitors that came from google. And click rate is also not good if we compare it with click rate of google visitors.

I haven't tried Facebook Advertising. But if you really are interested in using this, they charge depends on what you like. It's either CPC (when people click) or CPM (when they see your ad).

I have done extensive marketing on Facebook ppc. There are two basic bidding methods, PPC and CPM. With PPC, you pay per click and with CPM, you pay per 1000 impressions of your ad. ALWAYS start with PPC. If you have a winning campaign, it may make sense to switch it over to CPM at some point.

The big thing with Facebook ads is to get your demographics right. This takes lots of testing and trial and error. But it is worth it. Once you have figured out who will buy from you, you can open the flood gates.

For games, shopping, ebooks, consultant services, professional services it works good... But for software, specialty services - Not Good

Facebook can be a crucial marketing tool, but it is hard to get around. Facebook has become more strict about posting links, etc. They even banned me multiple times for adding to many people in one day (without a bot), it's almost rediculous. I think that CPA and affiliate products are the easiest to promote on facebook.

I used PPC Facebook advertising and it was only okay, got tons of impressions but nothing solid. In my experience, it was easier to do word of mouth promotions and try to give people an incentive to share you to their friends - I reaped many more rewards that way.
