Our site has always done quite well, but lately in the last year things have just dropped off more and more and more.

There are new websites who have done very little to their website and some pretty naf sites now ahead of us in our main seach terms, I just dont get it.

We have a well aged domain with pretty well optimised site with many inbound links yet this is just not good enough, we are actually going down and down in the last year and I dont get why.

Do you have any advise for me?

Car leasing is a pretty tough market. Many of the leading websites have hired specialist SEO support from some of the larger SEO agencies. I've even seen at least one website heavily penalised by Google - no generic results in the top 3 pages. Your site looks fine. And you've almost 20,000 links. I'd concentrate on some of the interior pages.

Ranking in Google results in Yahoo are brilliant better than ever, but total traffic is down due to such a huge drop in results in Google and just dont see why they suddenly hate us so bad.

Is the phrase 'lease-hire' specific to fleet services of automobiles? Are the competitors' domain names more closely related to the main keyword? That might be a reason for these changes, as it seems Google is giving more authority to keyword in domain names now than it used to.

Yeah it used to be the main term back when the domain and website was first made, lease hire is whats now knowen as contract hire. Unfortunatly now obviously contract hire or car leasing would be better for a domain name.

But thats one of the problems I have with this site, its an old domain/company/website so we should do well, but because now loads of websites have contract hire or car leasing in their domain that goes against us right away.

But there must be more than just that, we used to be in the top 3 positions for most search terms related to the industry now we are struggling for most search terms in the industry where results are just getting worse and worse over the last 12 months or so.

Continue to fire quality backlinks to the website. Optimize your site with your keyword. Your site should come up.

Not very helpful really, considering we have over 20,000 inbound links showing in yahoo and hundreds of thousands of inbound links showing in Google webmaster tools. The website is pretty well optimized already, is there anything you had in mind when saying this?

I was looking for some more specific feedback on whats wrong with our site or what other factors maybe hurting us. I just find it strange how we used to rank in the top 3 for most industry related search terms in Google now we have dropped loads for some reason, yet we are still top 3 in most search terms on Yahoo search still.

What are the 2 main keywords you're trying to target and rank for?

I also see you keep talking about inbound links, what about your outbound links? What kind of link building are you doing? Maybe its time to add some new techniques.

Have you changed anything at all to the site? Anything?

Google also might see some more relevancy in the sites of your competition for the keywords you guys are targeting. You might have to add, delete or change around some of your on-page as well.

Thanks for the wonderful insight and advise. But that dont really add up either considering 1 of the websites above us we know for a fact dont even do any SEO at all as we are good friends with them and they also have very few inbound links at all lol literally a few.

We must have something wrong and just saying get more backlinks does not really help.

Hmmm quality of users on this forum have gone down hill so bad its unbelivable.

What happened to the people who are here to actually give good well informed advise?

Seems like everybodys answer latey on this site is just get more back links and you will be fine. or Get domain with keyword in domain name then keep building backlinks and you will be fine.

An whats with the "good,i like" second post on the forum and thats the best that you could come up with???

Well, to start off with many new sites use a LOT of techniques, so even black hat ones to get to the top of Google. Some stay where as 90% will disappear in a matter of a few months time. As for having less content, the latest thing I've noticed with Google is that lesser targeted content accounts for more value. Strange but true.

That's why I always think traffic from search engine is not dependable at all. My site drop 50% every month.
Nowadays, people spent a lot of money on SEO to fool the search engines and search engines are usually stupid enough to fall for it, even Google.
Since your site is targeting local traffic, I suggest you put more effort on offline promotion. Good luck.

Yup, there are a lot of losers on this forum... I hate that crap....Some of the people here just go with what others say, not knowing if that what they are saying is even true, or even works...

Then you get the one hit, 2 hit, 3 hit wonders that post crap like you mentioned above...They just like a huge "POST COUNT"----Which isn't relevant to anything.

Now, I will say it again.....

This is what Google has done with your site.... It is no longer finding your website to be relevant to those keywords anymore. Its finding that the "NEW SITES" (even the ones with 1 backlink) have more "RELEVANCY" to the keywords being searched for. So, this being the case, your site will, and is dropping, and will be dropping and dropping until you fix it. Which you can see that already....

I'm actually one of the few here that is trying to help you and help others with their issues to not only ranking, but with all SEO questions. NO< I'M NOT A GURU, nor do I claim to be one.....I'm Jason, that knows a lot about Google, SEO and everything that goes along with it....

    AND I DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING.!

    Any ideas why though?

Looking at the keywords for our site and link text for our site in Google webmaster tools we have the search terms we want to do well for as the most used.

Just taking a look at the top 3 competitors for your home page keyword:

    nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk - PR4 - 3500 IP address backlinks
    contracthireandleasing- PR4 - 3500 IP address backlinks
    leasingoptions.co.uk - PR2 - 1500 IP address backlinks

    You: PR3 - 2800 3500 IP address backlinks

Also, you need to consider where the IP address of these links are coming from. If outside of the UK, I think that are worth much less than inside of the UK
