How do I keep my Ezine article on google first page of search results?

I recently wrote an article for a client, and in just a few days it is in first page results of a google query for two word combination.

It gets triple the traffic than other articles. What steps can I take in keeping it there ( or perhaps even making it the top result).

I know that backlinks to that articles should help. Any other specific tips would be welcome.

edit: I just saw there is a SEO marketing forum; so this might be the wrong forum for this thread, in which case, I wont mind if this thead is deleted. Sorry about it.

Yes, bookmark the article. Make sure it goes on the big ones like digg and reddit etc. and make sure it has a catchy headline so that you might get some traffic from there and people might link back to it.

You pretty much got it right on the money. If you want that article to stay on the first page then just build backlinks.

One thing you should consider is the click through rate before spending time keeping that article ranked. After all no click throughs probably won't benefit your employer in any way.

Share it with your friends on FB and Twitter, and build backlinks through other websites.
