Questionable Coop Site

Discussion in 'Co-op Advertising Network' started by SEOGuru, Apr 25, 2005.

I was looking at the txt file recently and saw that 438 ads were in there. 23 of which (5.25%) to digital point.

That doesn't bother me that much because, hey, its free right? Though I'd rather pay for the service and make it fair.

That aside, I saw a company with 17 ads (3.88%) - www.sendmoneytransfer.com. They are a PR 7 and have several thousand pages indexed in Google (though their pages are questionable). Anyway, I can see how their weighting is so high.

My question is... where are their coop ads? Not on the homepage, subpages, or any of the hundreds of indexed pages I've looked at. I have no problem with joining a network where I have a chance to be on every site that has an ad on my site, but it appears this site is getting a lot of links and giving up none.

Has this company paid to be in the network rather than participate in the coop?

Maybe this is a glitch or fluke. I was just wondering if anyone else had thoughts on this.

Probably Shawn's site. He has tons of weight. You can not pay to join the network.

I can place co-op ads on site A and point my ads to any of my webs so long as webs pointed to do not violate TOS.

Be sure to study the FAQ.

Maybe they use their weight at one site to promote another?

Could it be that the site has recently removed the links...?

It's common for people to use the weight they have to point to a site that isn't running ads, and i'm sure that's what is happening in this case.

What's not fair about digitalpoint having ads? He has weight that he wants to use as well.....

That's a lot of very fast responses :)

to address the point more however, it does not make it an unfair system. Shawn has a lot of sites that i'm sure he runs the co op on. I highly doubt he is giving himself free weight to promote his sites.

I believe www.sendmoneytransfer.com is Shawns site. His weight comes from all the affiliates that have joined under him, when you are logged onto any of the tools the link to the ad network sign up page is his refferal link. If you have his weight would you display other peoples link on your site? Saying that he does display links in the forum library.

Even though it's been covered before, here goes (again)...

Any ad pointing to www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/ (without someone's referrer) is a "default" ad. Basically someone's "number" is picked, but they have not setup any ads yet. So instead of serving a blank ad, there is a default ad that goes to the ad network, so they are not "mine".

sendmoneytransfer.com is my site (where most of my weight goes to, although that is going to change shortly). And the next question of course is going to be where I got all the weight... :) I run ad network ads on 8 or 9 large sites, but most of my weight comes from referrals (maybe you have seen the link in the middle of the keyword tracker), so I have ~500k in referral weight.

No one has bought their way into the ad network.

Shawn, is there a limit to the maximum amount an ad is displayed? For example, if someone joined who had 100 sites, all PR5 with 5000 pages each and put all the weight behind one keyword?

Like someone said, I have ads on site A, but all my weight is pointed to sites B, C and D.

Hey, gonna hijack this thread too lol. If i have referred someone to the co op, and then they refer someone to the co op, do i get a percentage of that as well?

I guess i'm asking, is my referral weight 10% of their total weight or just the URL they signed up with?

No limit on the amount of weight you can put towards an ad. And no, you don't get part of the weight that your referrals refer.

I have found the network to be "FAIR" period.....

As long as you play a fair game the network will reward you in many ways ;)

There's something wrong if you've got 438 ads in your .txt file - the cache is set at 400.
