Will Facebook beat Google in 2011 ?

I don't think so. Even if it is possible, It could take more time.

not actually but the CNN news says Facebook beat google in US Local Searched it was the most searched site in US in 2010

 

Google is a ever green model but Facebook is something is the trend these days. it can be conquered by anyone else in the future.

 

facebook and google deal with very different things altogether. Dont believe facebook will beat fb in terms of traffic but it will be a close race

 

facebook is already beat google on 2010 accordind to page view, FB is better pageview as compare to google in 2010.

 

We should avoid comparing these two. It doesn't really make any sense. Both may come from these same industry i.e. Internet but are two very different things. But yeah if you're talking about traffic, Facebook would definitely beat Google one day but again that wont last long.

 

This is true. Comparing companies in terms of internet traffic is not a good measure. Google has a track record of monetizing it's traffic and profiting from it; Facebook has a lot of potential customers but no established way of profiting from them.

 

Facebook is a social network site while Google is a search engine, they are different. So you can't compare them!

 

If Facebook will add a search engine of its own and will come up with adsense and free blogs like blogspot they will surely give Google a nice competition but for now I think its hard to beat Google coz they have resources and the end result to search engine are great

 

Facebook and Google are of totally different nature. Even if the traffic for Facebook becomes more than google, it doesn't mean Facebook is the new number one. Reason is simple, Facebook is a social network while Google is a search engine. No doubt it has facebook ads, but if you compare it against Google Adwords, the amount marketers spent on Adwords is still many many times more.

I agree with the other members that Facebook will not beat Google because Google and Facebook are different. The other is a search engine and the other is a Social networking site. They both have a lot of users but they have a different uses. Even if they tie up still people will continue using them because there is no competition between the two, am I right?

 

Logically speaking,it's impossible as google is a search engine and everyone uses the search engine more than they use facebook.

 

Google started years ago. Therefore they have more services than Facebook
Now Facebook has announced Facebook Mail which will be released soon.
And did you check the pagerank of both Google and Facebook.
Google is getting a page rank of 8/10 where as Facebook is getting 10/10.
So..what do u think now?

 

Both companies in near future will look to dominate each other. I still think it is too early to say that FB is a competitor to google.
Google has much wider range of products and services than FB.
