Hey, What do you guys use to track your email marketing campaign. I mean what do you use to find out if its actually working?
A lot of people use Aweber or Constant Contact to manage email campaigns. They can tell you how many people have opened the emails. If you're directing the emails to your landing pages, then you'll want to use some sort of site tracking, like analytics. So, if you have a lot of people opening the emails, but you're not getting sales or conversions, then there could be an issue with the landing page.
Any big affiliate program like clickbank or big CPA networks will have a special link you create. Aweber clicks are really "ugly" and I wouldn't recommend using their built-in links. What you want to do is take the tracked links from clickbank, and create a redirect on your site: yoursite.com/product-go/ or something like that, which then redirects to your tracked affiliate link. You can then create a link and redirect for each email you send out. It is the most accurate way to test not only clicks but sales as well.
Hey ShadyStudent, Normally the best practice is to create a tracker link for your email campaign. Now, what this does is measure your click thru rates to your offer. How you will find out if your email campaign is working, you'll also learn what your CPC generates. Or to put it in simple terms. How much money you earned. So that's how you know if your email campaign is working for you. It's all about open rates and click thrus. It can take testing subject lines to email copy. I hope this helps. Feel free to PM if I help you further. Let's talk, Chris W
If your autoresponder service doesn't do it (Aweber does) you can get something like Affiliate Ninja which allows you to tag your links and track them.
Funny how the most annoying (somewhat) part of internet marketing is the most essential. Track your stats! hahaha
E-mail tracking is a method for monitoring the e-mail delivery to intended recipient. Most tracking technologies utilize some form of digitally time-stamped record to reveal the exact time and date that your e-mail was received or opened, as well the IP address of the recipient. E-mail tracking is useful when the sender wants to know if the intended recipient actually received the e-mail, or if they clicked the links. However, due to the nature of the technology, e-mail tracking cannot be considered an absolutely accurate indicator that a message was opened or read by the recipient.
