Hey guys, If I was to buy say 60 days online classified ad on www.nytimes.com and have an anchor text back to my site will this count as a PR9 link? Thanks

It likely would if your site is related to the content on nytimes.

The biggest question is whether the expense to do that would pay off in return. Just raising your PR for a few months would likely not bring high enough returns to make that worth it.

Thanks sounds like an awfully expensive backlink...

I browsed through the classifieds and didn't see any that backlinked to the page. Also, any big site by default NoFollows advertising links, unless they are completely in the dark about SEO.

Once that link goes away and google respiders, your backlink will become useless. your site will drop back down to wherever it was before you bought this backlink.
