I normally do not have a problem coming up with site content...what I really do not have time for is building backlinks... So if I do not have backlinks, who is going to read my wonderful content? I always have tons of spiders...exactly what are they doing? do spiders give you backlinks? I know they index...I guess if they index the content, then they are giving you a link... I have tons of fresh content, in fact I have written so much that I am on the plus side, and new content gets posted daily.... but even uploading the content (articles) to article directories seem to be a chore, and every time I look to see if anyone has even read the articles, normally I have low counts...so honestly, I feel that I am wasting my time running dir to dir.... if you have no content, no one is going to show, if you have content and no backlinks, same thing, I feel like I am in a catch 22... what do you guys think...
spiders crawl your website content and index them, they are not real visitors. however that indirectly help you get more visitors via better SERP ranking.
well content will keep your customers on the site but backlinks will get the traffic to your seite in the first place >
then I guess it is better to focus on content first, as it will still be there...if I forcus on backlinks first, and no content, then the traffic will just drizzle right past the site...why would they stay on a site with no content..make sense?
Hey, Thanks for taking the time to share with us! Hope this helps a little... You are correct that you need both of them to really be successful. You have to produce top content & build back links on a regular basis. At time that can be a lot to handle and get all done or at least what you hoped to get done. I have found a solution that works for me. I'm not saying it will be what you need, but I might just make a big difference! For my blog I update it with a new article once a week. Yup just once a week nothing more nothing less. See, when I update it I do it the same day @ the same time & haven't changed or missed a beat since the first post. It's kind of like a tv show in a sense because my loyal traffic knows when to really tune in. Now Only updating my site onceca week gives me the time I need to do all the other things to promote my blog like, commenting, guest writing, social networking, etc. Whenever I do post a update I make sure it's the best content I can possible put together. That plus the work I do promoting my site is really boosting my traffic much faster than I had expected. Just my 2 cents. God bless, William Veasley
I'm in the process of writing a short article about link building. In the article I will address some misconceptions concerning content marketing/distribution. Anyway, keep adding content on a regular basis and spend about 30 minutes daily promoting some of your newly posted content. Not only will that help keep existing readers but it's an incentive to spend atleast 10 minutes on your site eventually your content will be read more by different readers. See the Free Advertising section on Cincy Forums to see how other writers are promoting their content. Good luck.
Both are important but if I have to choose only one it would be links. - Links can help your website ranking dramatically if you applied properly. - Links can help your content pages got indexed quicker. It is also helping content pages ranked in many long tail keywords. Fresh content updated on a regular basis is also important. It does make your website freshen all the time and makes your link worthwhile. However website can lives on their own with links but less content while the opposite will not the same.
Of course, both of them are important, however, for myself, I think original content is more important than backlinks.
I think everyone here has already summed it up for you, both are pretty important. In my opinion good quality content is more important than back links. When I say good quality I mean well written, keyword optimized articles that are unique. Google will love this and you are likely to be naturally ranked higher once your site is crawled. Then it's the same old, build back links with related anchor text and you are set! Good luck mate
if you are in a hurry links is most important(buy backlinks etc), but if you are patience enough you can just focus on content and wait for your site to gain popularity and build its own backlinks
I have also gone almost with the same kind of experience with some variation. I also make daily posting on by blog along with some backlinking every day. It is a very tiresome process. My attempt to get visitors through articles directories is not of much use. Hence I have set aside posting articles on various directories . Instead I think building backlinks is better proposition. Hope it will work best. Wish you all the best and happy new year.
When providing content for SEO, you have to make sure that you can write good content that will be able to generate traffic that translates into sales or PPC. You cannot expect your visitors to click on your links and buy what you sell if they got here because of your high ranking in the SERP to then realize that this content, and thus website itself is bad material. They need to have interest in the content, create a desire of exploring some more before they will click anywhere and generate you some income. If the content isn't high enough for their standard they will Bounce off your website within 5 seconds. Creating good content is one of the most important thing that you will ever have to do online. This should explain to you why content is far more important than backlinks. If your content is great you can expect to succeed by getting backlinks from others, althout you would really need HIGH quality content. OF COURSE, for a faster success and monetizing you need SEO and content, they are both part of the sucess. If you have any more questions please let me know
your topic seems like right eye or left eye ?? both eyes are important... so both content and backlinks are very important for websites...
I think that you mainly want to focus on content. Backlinks will most likely generate from quality vs. a site with poor quality content.
Hi, Both are good, but original content will work all by itself. I have one site that has all original content and about 300 uniques per day. The only promotion I did for this site in the beginning was some bookmarking and submitting rss feeds. That's it. This site gets a lot of comments and trackbacks so it is building links all by itself. However, with that said, it is still helpful to build some backlinks. Just figure out the method that you enjoy that won't drive you bonkers. Article submissions is good if you know how to do it correctly. Blog comments and trackbacks work great. Press releases, when done properly are probably better than article marketing. Same with video submissions. Anyway, that's just my opinion. Good luck, Scott
If you have a lot of content then you already have what it takes to get lots of backlinks from great websites. Look into wordpress for blogging and then do some research on building link wheels. I can post more stuff about that in the near future.
If you are looking to improve traffic from search engines, backlinks are very important. If you want users to come back to your site, then your content is very important. You should spend lots of time on both backlinks and content if you want to increase your traffic. And like what somebody mentioned earlier, find relevant keywords for your site and make sure they are in the important places on your site for SEO such as meta title/description, h1 tag and in the body text as well.
Content is the most important if you ask me. You can do a lot with on-page SEO and after that you will get backlinks. Content (unique) -> backlinks.
