Does anyone have any suggestions or inputs on how to make a decent classified websiite?

I actually have noah's classifieds installed right now since its offered through my hosting but will look into other options

 

Have you tried looking on Sourceforge? They have lots of stuff there including some web based apps.

Also I used to go to Hot Scripts to find stuff. PHP scripts are probably what you are looking for

It is a big competition here as long as you not copy and paste classifieds from other websites

I would be looking for a classifieds script/software and have established a list of specifications.

The prefered script for the classifieds site should be able to accomodate the following:
* Insert logo, title text, coloring
* layout with different fields that can be changed, different themes/skins are an advantage
* custom pages
* free users, paying users (with time limits), administrators
* Free user panel, extended paid user panel, admin panel.
* Different ad posts with text only and those that can integrate hyperlinks (do follow / nofollow).
* Ads where pictures can be uploaded.
* Product categories, sub categories, countries and towns.
* Listing links with title as anchor text under subcategories. Newest First.
* Category specific sets of fields.
i.e for simple goods:
[item name, description, price, contact details]
i.e. for cars:
[make, model, year built, kilometers, price, description, contact details]
* Elaborate Search function.
