In flames. They're the best. They sold out though which sucks but they're lyrics and guitar riffs are awesome.

Its a wage question.

Metal genre itself is divided in to several category like Death Metal, Black Metal, Doom Metal, Thrash Metal, etc.

Suggesting a best will be really difficult.

I like lot of bands, like Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Necrophagist, Cryptopsy, Slayer, Pantera, deicide, etc.

in your eyes. . I too had the same opinion 8 years back when I started listening Metallica. Then gradually heard more, explored other genres and understood there are more bands out there with great skills, guitar works, drum works, etc.

Godsmack is my favorite but there are so many bands out there I haven't heard that I have no idea who the "best" is

 

There we go, finally someone on here who knows what metal truly is! Many of these bands are my favorites and listened to daily.

Definitely, it's too bad we have lost such artists as Dime, and Chuck from Death.

As Cannibal Corpse once said...."Keep f***in supportin' metal!"

 

In Flames is awesome but the true legends of Metal are Black Sabbath and Metallica.

Nice to see one more metal fan. You are so lucky you live in canada, hope all bands visit there once a year, you have lot of choice to make whether which band you should visit or not. In my place (INDIA), we left with no choices, once every year 2 or 3 band comes, irrespective of the band we visit. We never get opportunity to see our favourites .

I wish I were in US, lot of gigs. hehe

Here we have more dedicated listeners, they tease me for what I am listening, they are in to porno grind and all, which I am not able to feed. Happy with genres I am on to.

And the best Canadian band is Kataklysm. Their In The Arms Of Devastation is one of my favs

 

I love heavy metal like sounds, and my favorite artist are metallica, korn and limp bizkit.
