The most important program I own is Scrapebox.....period.
While it can post comments on blogs...the really benefit is the the scraping feature that allows you to find powerful sites for your backlinks.
It only cost $47 when I bought it, but it should have cost a heck of lot more!

I also have used scrapebox in the past, do so with moderation though! Its a great tool to find sites and filter them by PR and only go after high PR links

What's the danger in using them? I know that it is a myth that building too many backlinks too quickly can harm your site, so what disadvantages could there be?

You can make up your own mind on xrumer, read this DP xrumer post's replies. Personally I think it's risky to use xrumer if you are planning on keeping your domain long term.

I think if you use only use programs that provide automated backlinks you will harm your future.....however if you use them (especially on backlinks to your backlinks) as in conjunction with manual backlinks....you will have a great future.

One of my favorite tactics is to use Scrapebox to scrape links......filter out the high PR do-follows and save them as one list. And I use Scrapebox on the dreg to find any potential auto approve links. I then build a blog, usually on EDU domain which I use the high PR do-follow links on......as many blog owners will give the benefit of the doubt to an edu blog over a normal blog. Eventually the PR of the edu blog will increase and I then use it for in-niche do-follow links to my money sites. As I have said many times.....nothing beats a low OBL high PR in niche link!
Another tactic I employ is I create web 2.0 properties (ususally with Bookmarking demon) to my moneysite and then I blast those web 2.0 properties with Xrumer. I create an RSS feed out of the xrumer profiles and post the feeds as post on another blog (again another edu helps). I take that edu's rss feed and submit it to rss directories and I blast it with my Scrapebox auto-approve list.
Its a process but it works, at least for me....good luck.

while we are on the topic, has anyone tried Backlink Master I found it advertised on this forum, it is only $37 and it seems to offer a lot of semi-automated backlink submission services, if it works the price sure is right

    jirolupat,
If you are getting low success rates, I would first look at your proxies. Without a decent supply Scrapebox is impotent.
So get yourself a nice collection of private proxies to post, and use the public ones that you scrape with Scrapebox to do the SERP scraping.

    Hope that helps.
