vBulletin slow?

Is it just me, or is vBulletin slower than other software like My.BB and phpBB3?

It's certainly not the host or my internet, as other software is rapid.

It isnt meant to be lightweight, mybb, smf and phpbb are the main ones that will be fast.

Yeah, I meant on mine, but on any vBulletin forum, pages take longer to load.

I love vB though, any tips on how to make it faster?

It's not the host, the host is great.

Optimizing the backend and removing tables in templates would be a good start. Easier said than done though... ^_^

vBulletin 4 is naturally slow. Downgrade to 3 if speed is that important, or consider switching to IPB, XenForo, or MyBB.

Any forum software will be slow if you run 100's of crappy plugins for it.
Do you think DP is slow? It's running vB 4..
I think it runs fast and I'm on several vB forums that are fast, because those admins know what they're doing ;)

Alexa doesn't think so. DP is in the bottom 80% for speed (I don't find it excruciatingly slow but a lot of sites I visit are faster). Besides, my MyBB forum had at least fifty plugins for all these small things and Alexa said 70% of the sites are slower. From what I test of xenForo, it isn't that necessary there to speed things up, as it's pretty well-done there (think of it as vBulletin Lite).

But maybe you could share your optimizations with other vB4 owners, cause I think you're the only one I know who actually has a fast vBulletin 4 forum.

i found vbulletin software much faster and convenient than phpbb software, there must be something else you are facing issues from your browser or may be internet connection.

I'd be happy to, there are several articles around on speeding up your forum
actually, most of it is posted here
and I don't think DP is slow, idk why alexa would say it is :|
