    Hi all,

I have a new wordpress site/blog and was wondering how to get my new posts indexed in a day or so...

Is this possible and what action do I need to take to make it so?

    Thank you,

    Richard

Well thats really strange, but it can be possible because Google spider can come on your blog at any time and luckily you don't have to wait for that. Thats good.

    1. Add your website to Google

    2. Create a sitemap there are several plugin available, choose the one that suits you. Here is one

    3. Create a Google Webmaster acccount
    a. add and verify your site by placing a meta tag or html file.
    b.Follow the Webmaster checklist

    4. Wait for few days(may be 2 to 5). Your blog will be indexed for sure.

    Thank you!

    Install this plugin: wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/

add more ping services to your dashboard.

Google loves wordpress, my blog posts often get indexed in hours.

...and of course, if you want your content to be indexed it must be original.

The Sitemap plugin mentioned by 'sudharshan' has an inbuilt pinger that will ping Google, Yahoo & Live/Bing depending on your settings.
However, adding your sitemap to your Google Webmaster tools account will be more than enough to get your posts indexed.

Iv found that if you ping all the services as the guy above says, and update regularly then google usually adds your content within a day or so. With blogs its important to add plenty of tags or categories otherwise your fresh content soon gets buried on more fresh content. Get incoming links to individual articles.

If you were to share the link on FB, Twitter, digg, stumble, etc. it will most likely be picked up even quicker.

Create an XML sitemap, and upload it to your Wordpress installation. Also install the Feedburner plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/feedburner-plugin/

Your posts should get indexed within hours.

Basically anywhere you can distribute links directly to your latest posts is beneficial, and it's good marketing too. For example, Twitter uses nofollow, but if you publish your posts there, they may get picked up and linked to by other sites/bloggers. And you may get some referral traffic from Twitter as well.
