    Hi guys,

I'm new here and actually a video game programmer. Well, while trying to build SEO for my site, I created an automated Google Page Rank Checker.

Try it out and let me know if you find it useful, I plan on improving it and adding more features and such as time goes on. It's Free for now.

    Google SERP Checker - www.krankrank.com

My intention is not to spam here, I just want some feedback on my program. I think it's pretty cool and quite useful.

Nice site... at first, I thought it was another tool to check the Google PageRank, but it's checking the position in the SERP of your site for various keywords in Google, which is infinitely more useful (PageRank is getting kind of stale these days...)

No, all this information is stored in my database. This way a user can check their historical results from anywhere, anytime.

    Yea it's badass.

    That's quite a question... :)

SERP = Search Engine Results Pages = What comes back when you do search
PageRank... if you look at the Google section of this forum, every other thread is asking when it's going to be updated. It's used internally at Google as part of their algorithm. It used to be exported publicly quarterly or so, give or take a bunch of months. It hasn't been updated in a long time and a lot of people are sure it won't be again. But a lot of people cling to the concept dearly and won't be parted from it for some time to come.

Yea thats always a concern, however there are a few dekstop solutions that do this (granted for hundreds of dollars). I use a nice method to keep my server from being blocked as well =]

Like bigitaboss says, it is really a violation of Google terms of service so I'm not sure how much you want to develop it.

That said, I checked my main 3 word phrase and it says my site is #3, but my site is really #4.

It all depends on what ever Google server you are querying against. He could be hitting the newest updated server and your ranking has not hit against the server that you are querying against, or the other way around. Hope that the server he is querying against is a server that has not yet been replicated on Google's end, or you could be losing a position very soon; hense position 4.

The real way to check the search engine position is to query multiple Google servers and then do an estimate on average position. So with his showing 4 and you showing 3, your actual position is 3.5 on the way to 4 or hopefully staying at 3.

If it shows no result for your site, try upping the search limit from 50. At the 50 default it will only check your site for position 1 - 50. 500 is the max, but takes a Looooong time. I have an intentional query delay to try and not upset the google as well as a few other methods, but this slows things down quite a bit.

Would be good to check for different search engine extensions from google. Like Google.co.uk, Google.ws, Google.ie, Google.tw, etc you get the idea. I would then use it as my traffic and SERPs is more localised, thus using Google.co.uk and checking from that website is much more useful for me.
