DoFollow or NoFollow in blog comments?

I'm new to SEO and I have some confusion regarding link building!
We all use blog commenting for creating backlinks but many of our own blog comments are typically hold the attribute nofollow in links.
Now I have a question that, what problem will arise if I make my blog comments as DoFollow instead NoFollow?

Sites that I use this strategy on, I'll allow comments to be posted automatically - but to help avoid spam I also use the wp-recaptcha plugin to block auto posts.
