Googles latest Algo changes have focused alot on new content , if your site is optimised well and frequently updated then this will happen all the time, Espcially if you have thrown it around places like twitter and digg to get ultra fast indexing , If the article gets a couple of links here and there because its good content then you stand a chance of keeping your place but alot of the time it will slowly drop away after a couple of days . I have a couple of blogs which get indexed and in the top 10 ( some times number 1 position ) with in around 10 mins. Alot of those search terms are now brings thousands of visitors per week.

How do you guys stay up to date on the latest algorithm changes? Google doesn’t update anything on it’s search engine changes, is it mostly speculative?

Nobody stays up to date on Algorithm changes, because nobody knows the algorithm. People try things, make note of their results and report them.

this is usual . you don't need PR to be crawled fast. you just need some good links

Google bot seems to be permanently logged in at my forum,, and usually new posts are crawled and indexed within 20 minutes..

In fact ,, I’m starting to see a lot of bots,, once had 8 all in at the same time. Even the fabled Majestic12 Bot calls in once a week… I’m not too sure if it’s a Jackal or a Hyde..

Thats great.. I have a blog with indexed within second. Its all depend upon the content and the frequency of content change. I have found that when content change daily then it got indexed soon, but if you do not update it for week or month then the next post may take more time to get indexed.

This is not surprising, though definitely good news for you! Google has been focusing a lot on new, fresh content and getting things indexed as quickly as possible. I've noticed things being indexed a lot quicker than used to be years ago.

Admadmarafa - Blogs generally get indexed faster than websites just due the nature of a blog. Websites are generally more stagnant and do not refresh their content as often. Because blogs usually have new content (posts) everyday that is displayed on their homepage, Google is going to notice there is frequently new content and index that site more often. If a website doesn't change often, Google isn't going to crawl it as much so when you do add some new content to your website, you may notice it takes a bit longer to get indexed versus a blog post.
