Everybody knows that web site promotion is vital for website success.

I am looking into more ways to promote my membership site preferably without spending any money. It is a site that is targeting IM marketers, SEO, Money Making and Traffics .

Should I hire an SEO expert?

Where would be good places to advertise to promote my website?

Anybody can recommand me how to do it?

    Thank you

Try the social networking sites and improve your presence, it's cheap and should give your site a boost.

If it's a membership site, why not use an affiliate program?

why people always over-complicate things up...
Forums are the best place to drive insane amount of traffic. These are the places where people spend time and money even more if you are in the IM market.

^ you could try facebook; I see you don't want to spend money initially, so I'd build a fanpage and promote it on your site.
later thought, I'd recommend fb ads as well, you could target pretty specific demographic there.

I think a great way would be to find a forum in the niche of your membership site and offer some good value to the forum members. Thats a great way to get traffic!

If your niche isn't very competitive, you can do SEO yourself. Ultimately, you can also use Article Marketing.

in my opinion SEO is perfect. but if you dont know seo then you can promote your site on social media like facebook , twitter etc and also you should have to run ppc like adwords etc. and join affiliate program which is more better for your type of site.

There are tons of forums for the IM community where you should be able to generate traffic. It is filled with your target market and if you offer real value you will be able to get subscribers. Be careful though the IM community is advanced and you will need to know your stuff.
