I think blog commenting and forum posting are getting outdated, probably one should use social networking sites.
Blog posting is one method, however, you should consider getting links from high quality and relevant web sites
Guest posting. I assume that's what you meant by blog posting, but really that is probably the best option right now.
Just a quick question... is it possible to be visible on page 1 of Google SERP if you don't do backlinks? I am sorry for such a stupid question. I am new to online marketing and SEO stuff so I just want to know... Thanks in advance.
There are many ways to get backlinks. Forum posting, blog commenting, guest blogging, social bookmarking, social networking, article directory submissions and website directory submissions are just among the several most effective ways to go about it. However, all of these won't still work if you do not have high quality content on your website. People won't bother to comment on your blogs, bookmark or share your page or even allow you to post a guest blog article if you are not able to come up with good content at all.
The best way may depend on what exactly you want, if you want an easy way, submitting relevant comments to blogs in your niche is a nice easy way, if you want long term, then press releases and article submission to some of the best article directories like Ezinearticles, and Goarticles, as well as some of the best press release sites is a good way for long term backlinks
I personally think there are zillions methods to get authorized and general backlinks but most of all, we are known and easily defined about blog commenting, forum posting, social bookmarking and buying contextual links (aren't allowed to do soby SEs)
I prefer following methods to get backlinks for sites: Commenting: commenting is the most quickest way to get some backlinks for site Forum Posting: Forums posting is the another best way to get backlinks. Social sites like Squidoo & hubpages module posting Blog posting
I think backlinks from blog comments have more value than forum posts though In a forum, a page could easily have more than 50 links pointing out if it, which decreases the PR value given to each link, unlike blogs, where you might be the only one commenting
Submitting feeds to feeds directory helps too. Feeds are taken by many bloggers to display relevant links on their blog, so that helps in getting back links too.
Approach quality blogs or existing sites and offer them something of value (i.e. give their readers a freebie, or 30% off...). Blogposts and comments are almost useless as no decent site will let you link to your site so easily, but those spammy and rubbish quality blogs will. Have great content and even better photos and lots of sites will link to you. And get out there and be friendly with ppl, you'll be surprised as to how many will give you a link back.
Forums usually get very very low-quality links. Best way to get links is by guest-posting on blogs. Oh, and check out Viperchill's latest backlinking post, it's gold - http://www.viperchill.com/link-trio/
