Building DP Reputation?

I don't if this topics goes here, I think it does, and I don't know if this is a taboo topic I did a search for reputation and didn't much relevant stuff so I figured I just come out with and ask. *crosses fingers and hopes that everyone doesn't give me red rep for bringing this up*

I have been looking around and recently noticed that I still only have 1 green reputation thing, but I have made 500+ posts and whilst I'm not out there revealing the secret algorithm of Google or anything (more because I'm still on my learning curve and am far from an expert) but non the less I try to be generally helpful and nice when I can be and I'm starting to think I might be missing something with this reputation thing. Is there something more to it? Like do posts count more to rep or is more a case of you really do something that people love you for...?

Click on this at the end of your Usercp under the Latest Reputation Received and Latest Infractions Received Column's and hide those columns
Never care about them as the more you talk about these 2 things the more you get them

General Chat gets less green rep. Post count has nothing to do with it.

You might wanna start by removing that, asking for green doesnt get you green.

 

I put it there recently because I realised that I used to be really focused on just earning money and I can't help but feel bad that despite everything I have learnt from these forums I'm still sitting on 1 green blobby thing - which means I haven't really given much back. So I'm starting to try and reply to more thread and be generally more helpful...

I have actually recently been thinking I should probably compile an all in one little ebook of my AdSense experience and offer it to DP members that are in the same place I was a year ago...

Anyway I guess it is something that just comes with time and when I learn more I guess I'll be able to help more.

 

Your guess is right, you need to be really active and try to earn the respect of members with GOOD reputation.

 

Bribery: Paypalling money might work too.

 

Now click on this then find all the threads & or posts you got red reps on and try to be better next time and stop doing the same mistakes .

 

It's interesting you actually brought this up because I was just wondering is there a difference in the amount of reputation you get that is dependant on who gives it? Like is it better to get rep off someone whose already has loads of rep? Sorta like pagerank I guess?

 

Yep getting a rep from people with less than 100 posts and less than 2 green blobs will take you forever to get 1 blob
If you look it up youll see how "rep power" works.

 

And what does it mean in your "latest reputation received" section when the person has a blue blob next to the thread you got it from.

 

Don't think you can get green blobs from General Chat. Only blue from here.

 

Its not blue its gray, it means its not worth anything cause its from general or from some newbie whose opinion doesnt yet matter

 

So just how many rep points do you need to get your second blob? 50? 100? 1000?
