Do you guys still use newsgroups?

I used to make living participating (and promoting my business) on the newsgroups. As I started spending more and more time on internet forums like DP, I spent less and less time on usenet and haven't been posting there for years. Is anyone still participating in usenet newsgroups? Is it still an effective way to promote youself?

I participate in support related newsgroups. But, yeah, everybody seems to have switched to forums.

i think newsgroup donot let you add signatures link .. Also they donot add in link popularity ,, you just have to find relevant thread and post your link ... which is quite difficult and you may be accused for spamming , so i have never used newsgroups.

Actually, I have had good luck with them. I write how-to articles and list part of it in the related newgroup. I then give the url to show them actual photos of the techique I am sharing.

I wrote one about 3-4 years ago, before I knew about AdSense, and just posted it as way to help someone upgrade a specific piece of equipment, and I still get vistors and questions from that post.

Depends on your subject I guess. Your average surfer or teenager out there won't have a clue what usenet is. I use Dejanews a lot when I first started out using the net.
