I just downloaded a Cpanel raw access log from my website, but I cannot view it in a text editor as Windows thinks its an MSDOS program! How can I fix this? I would really like to be able to view this information. Please do not recommend a stats program to me as I have one and am very happy with it.
You can rename it and add a proper extention to it. You can use the OPEN command and choose what program you want to open it with from the right click window.
I am not given the option to change the program to open the file with when I right click on it. Going to "Properties" yields no results either.
Set your file view properties to show all known file extensions... then you'll be able to change the file extension.
RATHER, than mouse clicking on the log file? Open either NotePad or WordPad and select: 1) File 2) Open 3) Navigate to folder 4) select file Please note; when viewing in NotePad the lines will all run together because NotePad does not offer an option for changing "line breaks". In WordPad there is a setting. The other option is to change the name of the file when saving from your CP. "Save as" Remove the "com", add "txt" and surround the entire name and extension with quotes.
