    Hi All,

I am not sure if I can give my url here in post or not, thats why I am not providing it.

I have started a tech resource website(wordpress blog) providing information on various topics related to website designing and development. The motive behind this website is to contribute to community as a part time activity.

Please suggest me the steps to attract more visitors, getting better seo rank etc.

Currently the website is 4 months old and only attract 4-5 visitors a day.

Please suggest me what is better white hat seo or black hat seo? Also please let me now how many days it may take to reach 100 visitors a day.

Here I would like to mention that I have only some basic seo knowledge, as per my understanding it need article submission, blog comments, on site seo using meta tags etc, however no clear cut idea.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

White hat is always your best bet for long lasting results. Black hat SEO may help you get a sudden burst of traffic, but you put your efforts at risk of being penalized.

Try posting on related blogs, submit articles about your site or a relevant topic to article directories, and otherwise acquire good links.

Read through search engine optimization guides to tweak and increase your sites appeal to search engines.

Then read some more! Besta luck!

Thank you Plato for such a quick response. Please let me know if meta keyword and description really matter or I should just focus on building backlinks using articles etc.

If you put up a site or a weblog and you want visitors to come in to it, there are lots of things you can do.

    1. Use social networks and make friends so you can promote your site(s) there in time.
    2. Micro blogging is also a sure way to attract regular visitors to your site, Twitter is a good source for this.
    3. Continually build links to your webpage.
    4. Use articles and submit them to article sites ie. ezine and more.
    5. Use hubpages like squidoo and hubpages to push your rankings to the top page.
    6. Make your page design user-friendly and easy to navigate for users and visitors as this will have them come back again and again.
    7. Promote your page via images and video and submit those images to flickr and video to yourtube et al.

There are more but so far these can help a lot if you do them all right and by virtue of patience. :)

Always use white hat if your focus is long term SEO.

100 visitors a day isn't that much. Choose long-tail keywords if your industry is competitive and the cumulative traffic will add up.

Building backlinks is also key. That is the only way you're gonna make it to page 1 in any sort of industry that is competitive.
