How long does it take you to put an e-book together?

I know a guy who puts an e-book together in about 2 hours. Obviously he does not write it.
He showed me how and it was mind-boggling, but I can't do it that fast.
How about you? How long does it take you?

If I don't have to write it and just do it like that then also it would take a day. Its not so easy I think, either he must be an expert or he must be knowing the exact sources of the matter needed for the ebook.

You said he showed you how. Do you mind sharing how he does it or is it a trade secret?

Write it ? Prolly in 4-6 hours . 8 hours for something that looks like it was made by a uni professor . That's for something commercial .

For a trully great book the period can go to almost 2 years perhaps even more .

It all depends on the topic and how I'm going to use it. But for an eBook that I'm going to give a way for free in order to build a list / get subscribers to my newsletter, I would probably use about 2 weeks. That's what I did, and it's about 50 pages.

eBooks vary in length, depth, quality and relevance so you have to take that into consideration.

The limits of an eBook are endless and i know webmasters that spend a month creating theirs, making sure the research was complete and that the wording in the book is easy for all to understand.

Some eBooks look more like online magazines rather than resources.

It depends on the topic and the purpose.

I have some Word templates that I use for
formatting that makes it much easier.

If it's PLR, I can get it done in about an
    hour and half.

If I'm writing it from scratch it will depend
on the amount of research I need to do and
it could take two-three days to get it just right.

well if you are going to sell it at clickbank and such, you'd also need to consider charge backs
I'd generally think that a decent quality ebook would take more time than that to write

I takes little less then that as there are lot of software which can read the blog and convert it into a eBook. But yes if you write it then it takes long time

If you are putting together content that has already been written then it shouldn't take too long. A couple of hours would do it to make it look good.
If you do it from scratch it can take a long time. All depends on the # of pages, how well you know the topic, graphics, etc.

The fastest I've put together a quality eBook for my list has been 8 hours. All content, no graphics.

DominiquePrentiss who posted below knows the "secret" (=stuff you don't know yet)too: PLR ebook (Private Label rights). Your name is on the book, you can change and add to the product (buy in a few good articles and add them as chapters), here is your own book.

... but only if you write it yourself. Why not use the services of someone who knows the topic and is happy for you to put your name as an author to it? You could save a lot of time!

Depends on the topic and length of the ebook. A 10-15 page ebook takes me about 3-4 hours to write, proof and finish, including making the image for the cover. If it's going on kindle, a little less because kindle doesn't need so much formatting.

A 400 page step-by-step course that can take a newbie from zero to profitability took about a month to do.

For something new that I'm not already familiar with, double the time due to research and validation.

If you have to do some research on a topic it can take more time.
but if you know your subject very well no more than 60 minutes for a 10 pages ebook

2 hours to write an ebook is possible, but it has to be a very short and precise one.

    Alternatively you can outsource.

3 pages per day for 30 days = One full high-value book
