Static pages are physical files that exist on the disk drive. If you have a page 'home.html', for example, you could look in your Web directory and find it, open it, edit it, etc.

Dynamic pages don't actually exist necessarily (the basic file might exist without some or all of the content). The page is created and / or populated when the page is requested.

Just because a page is 'static', does not mean that it never changes. I've had static websites in the past and I've changed their content daily. You have to have at least a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, etc.

Just because a page is dynamic, it does not mean the content changes frequently. I have a website built using a content management system (CMS) which creates all the pages dynamically. Some of those pages have never changed since the content was first created.

Generally speaking, dynamic sites are created with CMSs, which make it easier to update page content and design - usually without any knowledge of HTML, CSS, etc.

Dynamic websites are coslty but easy to maintain where as the static one is comparatively cheap but requires web development expertise to up date.

dynamic is "changing". You can make dynamic changes to a database without having to shutdown the instance and restart for the changes to take effect. However, if you do not update the control file, when you shutdown and startup, the dynamic change is gone--it wasn't permanent.

I think these comments assume no knowledge of HTML, which is not too difficult to learn. If you know HTML you can change static pages as often as you want.

Many Web sites are developed and maintained by inexperienced individuals with a reasonable knowledge of HTML. We were all there once, weren't we?

Why is a static site more SEO friendly? There is no reason why a site developed site with a good Website builder or CMS cannot be equally SEO friendly. The only potential issue is that, all other thing being equal, a static page will usually be quicker that a dynamic page, but is shouldn't be sufficient to affect SEO.
