Static websites are just that - static as name clear himself. They are delivered directly from the server on which they are stored to the browser that has accessed the site, and - just like an envelope of coupons received in the mail - once delivered, what you see is what you get. on the other hand dynamic website provide the browser with a potentially variable experience each time they visit the site as the content can be easily changed by an administrator or owner of the site. This is because only the design elements of the site are hard-wired into the page while the content is stored separately. The actual coded pages of the site are like empty envelopes, and the content of these envelopes is drawn from a database that lies between the server and the browser.

Static means "constant--never changes". Static sites are meant for those sites that cant be changed or updates regularly. A static site is one that is written in HTML only. Each page is a separate document and there is no database that it draws on. What this means functionally is that the only way to edit the site is to go into each page and edit the HTML - so you'd either have to do it yourself using a webpage editor like FrontPage or pay us to go in and edit the site each time you wanted something changed.

Dynamic is "changing". Dynamic sites are those sites that changes or update regularly. A dynamic site is written using more complex code and can do a lot more. For instance, Maine Web FX can make an area where you can log in and change various parts of the site, such as adding information or products. This is because each page is constructed based on the information in a database, and the information in that database can be changed via another interface.

    Hi,

Static pages are physical files that exist on the disk drive. If you have a page 'home.html', for example, you could look in your Web directory and find it, open it, edit it, etc.

Dynamic pages don't actually exist necessarily (the basic file might exist without some or all of the content). The page is created and / or populated when the page is requested.

Just because a page is 'static', does not mean that it never changes. I've had static websites in the past and I've changed their content daily. You have to have at least a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, etc.

Just because a page is dynamic, it does not mean the content changes frequently. I have a website built using a content management system (CMS) which creates all the pages dynamically. Some of those pages have never changed since the content was first created.

Generally speaking, dynamic sites are created with CMSs, which make it easier to update page content and design - usually without any knowledge of HTML, CSS, etc.

dynamic is "changing".A dynamic site is written using more complex code and can do a lot more. Dynamic sites is that they allow you to change only the content of the site and not the design, so you will not be able to accidentally break the visual style of the site.

Dynamic websites are coslty but easy to maintain where as the static one is comparatively cheap but requires web development expertise to up date.

dynamic is "changing". You can make dynamic changes to a database without having to shutdown the instance and restart for the changes to take effect. However, if you do not update the control file, when you shutdown and startup, the dynamic change is gone--it wasn't permanent.

    Static Web Sites

For a static-content Web site, all content appearing on Web pages is placed manually by professional Web developers. This is also called "design-time page construction," because the pages are fully built while the site is being developed. Static-content Web site is developed and then maintained by experienced professionals. Such Web site usually costs less when initially developed, but then all future changes still have to be done by Web professionals. Therefore a static Web site can be more expensive to maintain, especially when you want to make frequent changes to your site.

    Dynamic Web Sites

On the other hand, pages in a dynamic-content Web site are constructed "on the fly" when a page is requested from a Web browser. Dynamic-content Web site, while still developed by professionals, can be maintained directly by you, our customer. Such Web site initially costs more to develop, but then you don't have to pay Web professionals every time you need to change something on your site. If you plan to make frequent changes to your site, you most likely will be better off with a dynamic Web site.

A static site is is written in HTML only. It can’t be changed or updates regularly. A dynamic site is written using more complex code. That can changes or update regularly.

A static site is written in simple html/css code, which is more seo friendly than a dynamic site. Dynamic sites are coded in programming languages.

This is related to a particular system? With the system I use, any changes are permanent.

I think these comments assume no knowledge of HTML, which is not too difficult to learn. If you know HTML you can change static pages as often as you want.

Many Web sites are developed and maintained by inexperienced individuals with a reasonable knowledge of HTML. We were all there once, weren't we?

Why is a static site more SEO friendly? There is no reason why a site developed site with a good Website builder or CMS cannot be equally SEO friendly. The only potential issue is that, all other thing being equal, a static page will usually be quicker that a dynamic page, but is shouldn't be sufficient to affect SEO.
