Illegal, but forum marketing can still be very profitable if you find a good niche forum and build up a reputation for yourself. Signature links can be a great way to get interested buyers.

In addition to the above mentioned comments, such software is also probably useless. You would wanna join forums to learn, share and do business. Establish yourself as an trusted expert in forums, and you will receive targeted visitors. I doubt any mass commenting software could do that.

So true. Half the time, posts made by software don't even make sense, so they sure wouldn't create a positive relationship with other users.

In general, its not ethical or give you any great benefit, but still for you curiosity it may be legal or illegal depends upon the forums you are targeting as every forum has their own rules.

I think most people just get annoyed with mass spamming like that. It's not doing anything to build up the reputation for your company, or for yourself. So many these days are losing the personal touch with the ever growing demand for social media. However, that is the part that sells and makes you a memorable business.

Waste of time if you ask me - nothing pays more than a lot of hard work and sheer determination. Why use automated software to send out posts which do not make sense, half of which probably won't even be made and will be worthless to you. Bear in mind that it has been known for a website to actually get negative feedback from the search engines with certain automated software.

Just my opinion on the matter for what it's worth :)

Go ahead and give it a try! I'll bet you make a ton sales and because people love it when their favorite forums get flooded with worthless spam! So it's totally worth every penny you spend on the software!

That's sarcasm, in case you couldn't figure that out. You won't make any sales. Your accounts will get banned. And you might even get put on an anti-spam developer's blacklist (which should be fun when they put out their newest product and your URL is already on their list). But I know you probably won't listen to me.

the forum staff will hate you if you do it. Imagine your own website comment board being flooded with useless spam.

This is to all marketer using auto posting software. Do not ever do it. It is definitely not as effectively compared to posting manually and gaining reputation on the website.
