Yeah, that's what I do. Since it is almost impossible to make it to the first page on Google for highly competitive keywords. I go after what's so called long tail keywords.

 

Using adwords, PPC, etc. have not work for me where only get very little traffic. Most of my traffic comes from search engines. Still reading and researching ideas to get more traffic.

 

Commenting on other blogs, forum postings and ariticles can drive traffic, presuming you are adding quality content regularly to the site.
