    Hello all!

I work for an independent movie company, and I was just wondering if any of you guys / gals knew of any specific marketing strategies that work best for films / TV series and the websites that come with them.

    Thanks in advance!

Film review sites are a good place to start, and they're free.

I think that making backlinks will surely help you in marketing, this will attract some visitors and if your content is good enough to hold them, you will surely be benefited.

Study others in your industry to see how they do things...

You will find that many of them engage in article marketing and blog marketing...

They create teasers for the movies in print and video format, then distribute those across the web on blogs, articles directories, and video sites...

A good 30-second video lead that tells the story well and perhaps introduces a comedic touch are the types of things that could go viral, and as a movie marketing person, you will want to find as many ways into the viral world as you can...

You will also find that many movie houses advertise heavily in social media and sites that appeal to the 13-28 age groups, i.e. gaming websites and social media platforms...

Visual content always work better on YouTube when it comes to promoting ones content. You can build a channel for your company and upload your video content, than you should use your videos as responses for related videos by others.

An easier way is searching for an already active channels that are experts in movie/TV shows trailers and suggest your content for them, they can get you a very nice exposure.

    Good luck!

I think that getting reviewers of your content is a great way to attract more traffic and also help spread the word out. Check out professional and amateur film critics. There are many sites devotes to everything from specific genres to short films.

Another interesting idea is to do some behind the scenes interviews with the actors or production people... Then you can "leak" these interviews to the online press to build interest in the movie prior to completion.

Yes, IMDB is for all movies. I work with quite a few actors and a few producers who are independents and really not all that big by any means, but they use it. Also, consider cross promotion. Are any of your actors and or actresses models? Who did the music. BACKLINKS FROM ALL OF THEIR PROFILES.... you have a website right?

The key is the backlinks. Create a trailer clip about your movie and submit it to the video submission sites add backlinks to it. Make sure that your trailer video clip is attractive that can entice people to watch and click the backlinks.

I just want to emphasize this first because we are taking about movie in this thread.. "The best stories don't come from "good vs. bad" but from "good vs. good." – Leo Tolstoy Ofcourse you must have first a good quality of movie, a good story with nice actor/actress or its content. A HIgh quality.
