    Guest blog means writing blogs to some other's blog on relevant niche. Sometimes you allowed to put your link on it ,sometimes not. Publishing your blog on others portal will bring more visitors to your blog.

    Guest blogging means your are putting article on others blogs with your article. Those blogs should be relevant and high PR otherwise no difference between article submission and guest blogging.

    First of all, you will need to find the right blogs where you can submit the blogposts. And after that, you will need to contact the blog owner & see if they're accepting guest posts at the moment. If they do, then you will need to prepare the blogpost & email it to the owner.

    1-Find your top 20 Competitors in your niche
    2-Write a cover letter explaining who you are
    3-Contact all 20 competing blogs
    4-Write posts for the blogs that respond
    5-Give sample blog titles to blog owners for approval
    6-Write 1,000-2,000 word posts
    7-Write incredibly engaging posts
    8-Once posts are published, respond to all comments for at least a month

    Let the traffic roll in!

    PR and relevance is key! I does help SEO but alone I don't think that it will have much impact. A variety of backlinks are needed from a variety of sources - article writing, social bookmarking, forum posts etc.
