I had many mistakes so I don't know which one is the biggest.

When I reliaze that I should target words which are frequently searched I choosed one with 700.000 searches at Yahoo.

should I say that it is mission almost impossible to get rank for it?

Mine was thinking that simply placing a great idea onto a website would sell itself... Figured out later that's not true :D

People have to be able to find your great idea.

Buying cheap traffic from Quality Traffic Supply and Redirected Visitors. NONE of those visitors (if they were even actual people) spent more than 5 seconds on my site.

I had heard plenty of times that cheap traffic is scammy but I went ahead and tried it anyway, just so I could be certain. Sure enough, it was a waste of money.

Oh gosh, where should I start ;)

    - I paid $350 for an add on a site that should have brought me traffic. I got 11 visitors for the $350 and no conversions.

    - forgetting to put a daily limit on my adwords account ($400 later... I realized it!)..

    - spending way to much money on adbrite.. ugh.. rarely have got conversions from it.. (obviously not doing that anymore)

    - buying script when I have no clue how to implement it :) LOL! and having to pay more to get it installed.

But, now that I"ve gone through some of those,, I know what not to do and more of what to do!! Gotta learn somehow ;)

    Cheers,
    Lindz

I got a client's PR7 site removed from Google

The client asked me to do some split-testing with a service I'd never worked with before. Their code for switching pages contained a NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW tag for the switching page. I copied this code onto their homepage to be used in the split-test.

A few days into the test, traffic started falling, and when I investigated I found the errant code, which I promptly pulled. It was a tense week before their rankings came back.

Of course, now I have them on the right track, possibly to a PR8 this update. Oh, and I'm finding them a new A/B service. :D

Hidden text, need I say more?!

Got a site banned from Google for 2 months. Removed it and all was well with the world!

You live and learn. Thankfully it wasn't my site ;)

As my dad often says 'it could have been worse, it could have happened to me!' :D

I have made so many mistakes where do I begin?

    Not tracking links and advertising...

    Not staying focused...

Spending a lot of money on hype...

    Didn't do enough research...

Spent to much time reading instead of taking action.

These were some of my downfalls

    Lynn :)
