PR is overrated anyways... Its just an ego thing with webmasters. Quality content and backlinks is all you need to worry about.

I always check for PR updates while I'm taking a crap in the morning (all three times), and so should you.

To be honest, either Google said heck with PR, or they are waiting till the new year to bring out a new system of handling PR, since they have been coming out with new stuff lately...

Google PR update is way behind schedule, having said that as many here noted public PR is not so important any more. Just keep publishing quality content, create buzz about your website and inlinks will follow automatically. PR is just one of over 200 signals for positive rankings, good luck!

I'm tired of saying this... But, I just hope (and keep hoping!) that Google will update their Page Rank this month of November, 2010 (I've been saying this since September, 2010).

From what I have seen the PR updates every day but for different pools of sites. PR of high ranking sites that are above 5 seems to be updated more frequently than PR of sites that have value of 1 or 2. I did little monitoring over the passed year and it would seem that it cane take up to two year for decent site to switch from PR 0 to 1. And that might be just because of the age of the domain. I think time is a big factor in the PR calculation. But it is anybody guess. If you look up the patent that google has on calculating the PR your brain is probably going to fry:(patent# 6,285,999)

I am sure eventually google is going to phase out PR. Google is all about providing good content to web searchers, thats it. What value does the web searcher gain by knowing the pr of the page? Probably little to none. However, what value does a webmaster gain by knowing PR? Lots. It tells them how well they are doing with seo. Google doesn't like seo, therefore, google will probably stop issuing PR scores to the public. Seo is big and it isn't going away, even if google stops issuing it. As webmasters, the name of the game is going to be developing alternative metrics to gauge how valuable a site's links are. Probably best alternative metric we have is the alexa rank.

However, none the less, getting good backlinks with good PR is the name of the game. I don't care what anyone says. If you have crappy content but you have lots of high quality backlinks then you will get lots of traffic. Google will boost your serp rank based on those high quality links. Guaranteed. If your site has good quality content but not many high quality backlinks then you will be stuck at the bottom of the serp pages. Quality content only takes effect on the long term. Why? Because as people browse your site and they like it then they will link back naturally. All in all, seo works best in the short term but quality content works best in the long term. If you have a new site, focus on seo. I'd say do 50% seo, 50% content. As your site matures focus less on seo and more on content. Maybe 20% seo, 80% content. Once your site is big time player, only focus 5% seo, 95% content. At that point, the web searchers are doing all the link building for you!
