I have set alerts for my competitor's sites backlinks. Whenever they get backlink I get notified and I also go to that site and try to get link from there :)

How to set-up google alert to receive alerts about back links? I see no such option.

I didn't think of this. How do you set it up to check your competitor?

In order to check a competitor you need to type its URL in the search filed in the following manner : inurl: siteurl.com

It will than generates you the results from this url of the last 24 hours.

Hope I've been helpful. Good luck.

    Great tip, thanks ;)

Since Google doesn't show the full list of backlinks to any website, you are better off using Google Alerts for competitive intelligence and reputation management. You can also see what is going on in the news.

    Hi,

Personally, I also use Google Alerts in finding active backlinking sources like niche relative forums and blogs via only setting up my targeted keywords as the contents of Google alerts.

    all the best,
