I wouldn't say it is accurate.

Google Analytics is more accurate in checking the number of Unique visitors and page views compared to Alexa.

 

Alexa ranking is based over the users of your website that have Alexa toolbar installed. A quick and easiest way of improving your alexa ranking without spending anything is to install the Alexa toolbar and visit your own website for a couple of times everyday.
You'll start to notice an improvement in ranking within days.
But it is just for the improvement of Alexa ranking. better alexa rank doesnt always ensure a good SERP.

 

I have never found Alexa's estimates to be accurate for my sites. On average, they only show about a third of what my actual traffic is. The same can be said for compete.com

 

Will counts the redirected visitors as unique visitor?

Yes same here i do not think alexa ranking is accurate , or i will also say there is no use to take care of alexa ranking it is just to make u happy indeed .

 

I do not consider alexa rating or ranking accurate before their are certain instances wherein you can make your ranking/rating high by just doing researching using its toolbar...

 

It is not accurate since it is base on the people who install alexa toolbar.

 

Alexa rank is not accurate 100% but keyword ideam and traffic details for a site has more advantages to online marketers specially in CPA marketing.

I don't put much stock into Alexa rankings. As others have stated, it's calculated by one source only, the Alexa toolbar. How many people do you know that actually have it installed? I bet not many! The web-related industries have more users with it installed than most others. Heck, at one time Alexa thought the top sites were in Korea.. probably because so many had the toolbar installed.

Basically, the alexa rank can be gamed and should only be used as an early indicator at most. Sure they have complex estimation algorithms but they don't have the REAL data to begin with.

 

I think it's a good way to see how different sites in the same niche compare, as you can assume the visitors of those sites have approximately the same chance of having the alexa toolbar instealled. If you try comparing a SEO blog to a knitting blog however... not so very accurate anymore

I have strong believe in google , i do not want to go with alexa.

 

Many tools to make alexa`s traffic ranking in accurate.

 

Alexa ranking is not accurate beyond 100000. But below this it will give almost correct visitor info.

Alexa ranking is not 100% accurate. Since this is the only website so we are taking their stats into consideration.

 

I've seen SEO/Internet marketing blogs in the 40k-50k Alexa range with only 400-500 uniques/day while sites in other less technology related niches with 5,000+ uniques a day with Alexa close to 100k, so this can not be correct. Just think about it, people who are interested in Internet Marketing are way more likely to have the alexa toolbar installed.

 

It's nowhere near accurate, still a good place to get some ideas / find new niches etc.
