It depends on the kind of keywords you select and then map to appropriate pages. you can map 10 keywords to optimze at a time with low competition and some time only one keyword which is highly competitive. It totally depends on kind of keywords that you select to optimize for your site...

It depends what you mean by your question. I think this question can be taken two ways.

Do you mean how many keywords should you try to rank for in search engines? If so, then you can try and rank for as many as you want. You have to keep in mind though not to try too many at the same time, choose between 3-5 keywords and when you see yourself on page 1 of Google, then try for another few keywords but still keep focusing on the previous keywords too.

If you mean how many of your keywords should you have in any given article, then it all depends on the article length. Have a keyword in the title and once in the body of the article if it's around 4/500 words.

No there is no such thing as to many keywords, however you will need to keep them relevant to your site so for example if your keyword is "money" you can have long tail keywords like "I need Money" "How to make money" etc etc, you can have these on your pages or just the seed keyword "money" then do some off-site SEO with the many thousand variations you can use to rank well for that keyword while keeping it relevant to your website because "money" is your seed keyword using keywords such as I need to make money online and pointing it to your blog/website will have a good impact on your rankings.
